Rangefinder Magazine

December 31, 2007 by Tamara

I was pretty thrilled to be profiled in a 4-page spread in Rangefinder Magazine in November, the signature magazine for professional photographers (that I also happen to pore through every month). I remember being in awe of those profiled photographers when I first started out, so it's quite cool to come full circle in regards to this particular publication.

And thanks for Amber Holritz for writing such a nice piece!

Tamela & Shawn

December 28, 2007 by Tamara

Tamela and Shawn got married in Greensboro, North Carolina, at the lovely Grandover Resort. They planned a pretty incredible day, complete with releasing doves after their ceremony, a very talented cigar roller brought in from Miami for the big event, and a very full day & evening surrounded by loving friends and family...
The Bride & her Flower Girl had nearly matching tiaras...
Tamela looked absolutely radiant...
....as did her gorgeous team of junior bridesmaids...
WE JUST MARRIED

EACH OTHER

FOR REAL

!!!
The doves shot out so quickly, I thought I'd offer a little guidance as to the path...
Tamela & Shawn wanted to show their guests some images from the ceremony as they walked into the reception, and because they had such excellent A/V equipment, it just looked so elegant...
The toasts....
Mr. Havana:
Yummy candied apples, keeping true to the colors of the fete.
This was a great catch - the little ring bearer was peaking in on Tamela's sorority sisters who were closed in a circle, serenading her. He just had to scamper over and see what was going on...
Congratulations, Tamela & Shawn - Thanks for having me there!!!

Happy Holidays!!!

December 24, 2007 by Tamara

I just wanted to wish every single person on this earth a happy holiday season!!

2007 has been a wonderful year, and we want to offer our genuine gratefulness to all of our clients, to our friends (who are very often also our clients or maybe it is our clients who very often become our friends?) and to our wonderful vendors. We'd especially like to extend our thanks to our families, who have been very patient with us as we raced/limped to the finish and finally closed our studio doors yesterday, with the significant satisfaction of filling every single order and every holiday card request by December 23rd. We even managed to rush quite a few, way past our deadlines, and deliver them on time. So pleased with that!

Tamara Lackey Photography will be closed until Wednesday, January 2nd. The studio will re-open, but I will be flying down to Tampa Bay the next day, where I will be mentoring some great photographers, attending a few scheduled meetings, delivering a seminar about contemporary photography and visiting the huge, wonderful trade show, with the intention of bringing back some great product offerings to our clients in 2008. Rachel, Courtney and Kaitlin will be back to work at the studio, and Lisa will keep everything humming while I'm gone, kinda like she does all year!

I don't know one single person who doesn't feel busy most of the time, so I hope you all enjoy a well-deserved break, and we are looking forward to a brand new 2008. Personally, I'm going to live by these wise words for the next week, while hopefully gaining some wonderful time for reflection....

"Slow down and enjoy life. It's not only the scenery you miss by going too fast - you also miss the sense of where you are going and why."

-- Eddie Cantor (1892 - 1964)

But, then again, you can always realign your thinkings by following Will Ferrell's enlightened comments in ELF:

"It's just like Santa's workshop! Except it smells like mushrooms... and everyone looks like they wanna hurt me... "

Take care :)

Lindsey & Nick

December 20, 2007 by Tamara

The Beautiful Ms. Lindsey & the Gorgeous Dr. Nick got married at Duke Chapel and celebrated their wedding at the Washington Duke Inn on a wonderful sunny day. They spent the day and evening with a plethora of great friends and family. They are both such smart, together people, the day went off without a hitch!
Getting ready - Lindsey looked so elegant, her bridesmaids were in full admiration mode :)
Thanks to Michael for this great shot of the men in action....
Going To The Chapel. I hear that song in my head at every wedding :)
I do love the little munchkins in their finery!
Very cool bridesmaid dresses...
The fathers sharing peace.....
Two of Lindsey's cutest bridal party members are some of my favorite little subjects who I am really looking forward to shooting again - sweet Katie & adorable Ford :)
I like so much about this image...
This was shot at Duke Gardens. It was actually quite dark, but I was able to use a hint of additional light along with my 1.2....
Gorgeous Cake
Father & Daughter Dance
The best for last :) Using lighting from the landscape strobes...
Congratulations, Lindsey & Nick!!!!
