The Hall Family

October 31, 2007 by Rachel

In honor of Halloween: a super-fun session with 3 superheroes

Davis, Dean, and Sidney, well-disguised here as ordinary (but beautiful!) children.
Dean has THE BEST serious face I've ever seen on a two-year-old...
...but even he couldn't stay serious for too long.
Mom with her boys
At last! The alter-egos were revealed and they were fabulous!

If you're lucky enough to have these 3 show up at your door tonight, be sure to give them the GOOD candy! :)

A little piece of Tamara!

October 30, 2007 by Lisa, Studio Director

Tamara was recently honored by being selected as one of 35 "Mentors" from the international photography community to donate her time and experience to photographers at the 2008 Digital Wedding Forum Convention, to be held in Tampa in early January. Professional photographers from around the world have the opportunity to register for one-on-one consultations and portfolio evaluations with the selected Mentors. When registration for mentor sessions opened, the 30-minute consultations with Tamara filled up immediately upon release!

All proceeds from the mentoring sessions will be donated to the Keep a Child Alive charity. Working in response to the AIDS pandemic in Africa, Keep A Child Alive is working to help stem the spread of AIDS in Africa, provide medication and care to those with AIDS, and provide care and shelter for children orphaned by AIDS. Please read more about what they are doing by checking out their website at www.keepachildalive.org.

We feel so honored by this outpouring of support from peers in the photography community; when we are working heads down in the studio all day, it is great breath of fresh air to be so warmly recognized among the larger world of our colleagues!

andy & mary beth

October 29, 2007 by Tamara

I told my brother I'd be happy to take a few photographs at his wedding in Johnstown, Pennsylvania - and I ended up having so much fun, I shot the whole thing! That's the serious danger of loving your job.

My sister-in-law with her boys, my sweet girl in full curtsy & Caleb with his favorite person ever, daddy...
The cousins!
The Groom, my brother, being as hot as he possibly can :)
Since this was a second marriage for both of them, Andy & Mary Beth decided to bring some additional meaning into their wedding by meeting halfway down the aisle and walking up together.
A giggly ring exchange from two not super giggly people!!
They brought up their children and each gave the other's children gifts, one by one - this look between mother & daughter is just priceless. She is so genuinely happy for her mom.
My beautiful, beautiful son - BubbleFest!
Wonderful light for the high-spirited exit!!!
MaryBeth and her adorable grandfather :)
A quick hand-off of the camera for a rate shot of us three siblings together.
The Bridal Party
Uncle and Niece
Andy and MaryBeth met in a tavern halfway between their two cities, so we swung by for some nostalgia...
Oh, my girl. Never too shy to ask - nay, plead - for that she desires...
My niece Elizabeth & my nephew Alexander - I think they even made the click click noise when they shot these guns my way...
The beverages were in a large galvanized tub in the grass - when I looked over, this is what I saw. I will be sure to keep their identities private (okay, mom and andy?)
Beautiful sunlight everywhere - the group changed clothes for dancing on the patio. Adrian, I promised you a spot on the blog - here you go :)
And then that galvanized tub emptied a bit and things got nutty.
My husband and father have always enjoyed a quiet cigar together now and then. The problem is that not only does my husband not smoke, he's also usually training for some traithlon but never wants to disappoint my dad. Well, dad FINALLY quit - so they decided to at least not give up the illusion of such a grand tradition.
Ending on a high note :)

Ramblin' Rose!

October 29, 2007 by Tamara

The Triangle Ramblin' Rose Triathlon was last week, and we're just now seeing all the photographs from it - what a blast this was!! It was put on by Endurance Magazine, my all-time favorite magazine - nothing at all to do with the fact that my hubby's the publisher :) - but this women's-only sprint triathlon is in its second year and is such an incredibly inspirational event. There was also a great race in Charlotte - both of these races sold out months in advance.

I raced it this year again, and my very favorite part is watching everyone else finish - such emotion and pride in so many women, and it's such a friendly & supportive course. Where else do you pass a racer and hear them yell out, "I love your skort!!" ???

If you are a) a woman and b) ever interested in racing a triathlon, it's by far the best first-time event that I know of - this year was comprised of 50% first-timers, and there were a lot of Big Smiles at the finish!

Thanks to Courtney for taking these photographs!

Wonderful support from all the kids...
Courtney grabbed this fun shot of me finishing the race with my daughter :) :) :)
This was an incredible ending to the race. The final finisher - or, as she called herself, "The Last Rambler" - finished so strong, with the entire crew of volunteers flanking her to a truly glorious finish.

As my friends and I watched them pass by whooping & hollering, we looked at each other and had to laugh - we both had tears in our eyes. It is just so inspiring to be around 500 women who have spent months training, putting themselves out there despite all the demands on their time and however unsure they might feel about competing - and then swimming, biking, and running their way to that finish line.
