3-day creativeLIVE workshop … Seattle, anyone?

admin —  October 18, 2010

I’m quite excited to teach what is proving to be a rather brainstorm-driven, technologically-boosted, wow-comprehensive 3-day course at creativeLIVE headquarters in Seattle, Washington this November 19th, 20th, and 21st, 2010.

The details are all still coming together, but I’ve been tasked by Chase Jarvis and Craig Swanson & the ultra-talented creativeLIVE crew to co-create a “dream workshop experience” about photographing children.

We’ll be streaming live to a worldwide audience and are officially inviting six individuals to join us in Seattle. They will join the “in-studio online representative” workshop participants in our studio audience.

Per the clip below, we are asking you to record a 60-second video submission. Please note the few points to address, that the quality of your video truly doesn’t matter (!!), and to include the link to your video in a twitter with the inclusion of: #creativelive and @tamaralackey. The rest of your twitter is up to you.

A couple of reminders:

1. The deadline is October 27th – but the sooner, the better. We’ll be announcing the six participants who will be with us, for the entirety of the workshop, from the Photo Plus International Conference in New York, where Chase and I are both speaking (well, technically, I’m merely offering a presentation – he’s the Keynote Speaker).

2. The entire event is free if you are selected to be part of the Seattle experience, but airfare and accommodations are your responsibility. More good news – from what I remember, coffee flows freely through the streets in that city, so no worries there.

3. You will be filmed if you are part of the workshop. Probably frequently.

Check out this video for additional information about the workshop, the request for submissions information, some fun imagery – and the rest of the details!

I would absolutely love to get myself into the Seattle audience for this, sounds sooooo fantastic!!

  4. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m Enrolled !!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Thanks – loving the enthusiasm. Would *also* love suggestions on what you’d like included in the course. We’re wide open to creating a pretty engaging experience.

Probably not looking to include a dance-off, but other than that, there’s a lot of possibility …

  6. I’m sooooo happy you’re going to do this workshop. Yeah and thank you. Can’t wait!

  7. Do you have to already be a professional photographer to try for the audience? Just hoping that trying to be counts hahaha!

  8. I just entered! Oh, I hope I get picked for the audience. Please, please know that my video recording skills have NOTHING to do with my photographic skills!

  9. Wow Tamara – can’t wait for this!!! I will be away during recording, but will most certainly purchase after the event. Re inclusions in the course – I would be interested in how to create perfect skin tones (inc. best way to calibrate your monitor), best lenses to use for portrait photography, when to use a tripod, how to create perfectly focused faces and eyes that pop, how many photos to provide a client and finally – how much post-processing should be done to the images before "showing" the client. Much appreciated.

  10. I can’t quite explain how much I would love to be there. Will shoot for airfare! Making a sign! Mostly, I would be so grateful to learn more about my technical settings. Everything is aperture priority and I have problems sometimes with exposure:(

  11. Hi, Crystal – No, you don’t have to already be a professional photographer to submit a video for consideration – we really are trying to select a great representation of the worldwide audience, which will include avid photo enthusiasts or those strongly considering photography as a career.

  12. THANK you for your video submission, Lynette!!

  13. Thanks for those fabulous suggestions, Joanna :)

Looking forward to seeing your sign, Andrea, lol – and we’ll definitely be discussing technical settings!

  14. I just posted my video! I am so excited about your workshop!

  15. So . . . if we can’t make the workshop in Seattle, how/when do we watch it?

  16. Cant Wait! About to submit my Video.

  17. Thanks, Kristine and Sarah – woo hoo!

  18. Melanie – You can watch a live stream of it at http://www.creativelive.com when it begins on November 19th, as well as order a video-on-demand through the site if you can’t (or don’t want to) watch it live.

  19. I’m so excited about the workshop. Submitted my video yesterday and keeping my finger crossed. :)

  20. So excited for this course! Still keeping my fingers crossed; I’d love to be chosen for the live audience!

  21. I am sooo excited for this course! Exactly what I need right now! Thank you Tamara and creative live! Video submitted and finger crossed!

  23. I live in Seattle and I’m soooooooo excited about this! You have been one of my inspirations from the beginning of my journey. I LOVED you and your work even more when I saw you speak at WPPI last March. I was especially touched about the adoption portion of your presentation. I have been blessed to adopt all 4 of my children.
Thank you for doing this and I CAN’T wait! Oh and if you need anything locally give me a shout.

  24. Would it be bad to admit I had never heard of you before this? Clearly I’m way out of the loop or something. To be honest I use a lot of wedding photography as my inspiration which is weird as I’m primarily a family photographer but it works for me.

Regardless I’m CRAZY excited! CRAZY!! So pick me k.

Also things I would love to cover are some of the simple stuff like model releases and contracts as well as more techniques for using light n

  25. Aww crap. My kid hit enter on me:)

So yeah more techniques on using natural and artificial light creatively…

    Soooo excited
